Dear Welder Series…
Can you furnish a mustang 2 front suspension for an Austin Healy Sprite? It uses a “damper” as the top part of suspension.
Dear Jack…
Our kits are very easy to fit in most frames, Jack. What track width would you want, measured from wheel mounting flange to flange of the rotors? What are the frame I.D. and O.D. at spindle location? How high is the frame off of the ground? The stock suspension pieces would have to be removed. If you can send digital pictures of the front frame area, I’ll have a better idea of what might be involved in the swap.
Thanks for asking about Welder Series parts.

Dear Welder Series…
Paul ; Track width from existing brake backing plate to backing plate 42 ¼ “, frame i.d. 12” o.d. 16”. Frame beams are 2”x2” bottom of frame 5 ½ off floor with stock 13” wheels. stock steering equipped with wrack and pinion steering. I would like to know if it’s possible to install a Mustang 2 suspension and a ball park price for weld up kit. Sorry I can’ t provide pictures at this time…jack
Dear Jack…
Thanks for these specs, Jack. The first dimension listed, the track width of 42-1/4″, pretty much shoots down a narrowed Mustang II. The rack can’t be narrowed enough to allow a track this narrow. 45 or 46″ is the narrowest. Do you think you could work with this track?
Here are some other considerations:
The bottom of the frame rail, in most Mustang II installations, is at or just slightly lower than spindle height. Dropped spindles would put the bottom of the rail about 2″ lower than spindle height. If your tires are 26″ tall, spindle height will be about 12-1/2″ above the ground. Following this line of thought, the bottom of the frame would be about 10″ above the ground. The 5-1/2″ that your frame is now would mean the MII rack would be going through the frame rail. If I say this is a very difficult swap, someone will work a year of 40 hour weeks to prove me wrong… but this appears to be a very difficult swap. Have you seen this done before?I want to help you with your project, but I don’t want to lead you on.
Please consider this and let me know if we should do more investigating.
Thanks for your interest.

Dear Welder Series…
Thanks Paul; I have seen it on a full size Austin Healy. I’ll get some measurements and hopefully some pics of the A.H. at the next L A Fairgrounds swap meet
Dear Jack…
Thanks for getting back to me, Jack.Paul
Paul, I read your comments on the Austin Healy width issue. I Haven’t gotten my measurements yet, car is in storage. Do you recall if anyone has attempted a Mustang II front end on a Sunbeam Tiger or Alpine? I would like to install a V6 in an Alpine and have the tuning ability offered in the Mustang II unit. Thanks, JERRY
Sorry, Jerry, I don’t know of a Sunbeam installation. When you can get dimensions, please send them to me and I’ll let you know how it looks for fit.
