Ready to pack the 32

Paul fastens the trunk panel. Handy spot to keep a bag full of car wash stuff, bag with extra shoes & jeans, tools. Two lawn chairs fit behind the seat.

trunk packed. We take a small cooler with sandwiches, snacks & drinks inside the car with us plus a bag with headphones, MP3, calculator, hand sanitizer, kleenex, etc.

Odometer at home 15,801 (wish the odometer had been working the first month it was on the road in August 2009)

After spending 2 hours cleaning and polishing the ’32 on Friday night, it was raining when we left home. It was so cold at this gas station near home that we put on a jacket. Temperature: 53 F.

Duty free shop at Windsor, Ontario. Didn’t buy anything, just had to use the washroom.

On the Ambassador Bridge which connects Windsor, Ontario, Canada with Detroit, Michigan, USA.

Approaching US Customs at Detroit. A few standard questions: where are you going? (Texas & California); why? (a road tour); is it an annual thing? (well, they go different places, but there are several each year); how much money do you have with you? (mostly travelers’ cheques); any fruit? (Canadian apples and US cherries); any alcohol & tobacco? (no); what kind of gas mileage do you get? (about 20??? not really sure, but it’s not great). Have a nice day.
